EA dropped the trailer for EA Sports College Football 26 today, sharing top-level details for this year's game modes. Among the modes highlighted was Online Dynasty.
One of the franchise's most popular modes, Online Dynasty will see multiple improvements and new features based on player feedback.
Online Dynasty in College Football 26 will now support Cross-Play between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. As detailed by EA:
You will now be able to run a 32 person Online Dynasty with friends regardless of platform. Within the Members tab, you’ll be able to see each user's system. To use cross-play, you’ll need an internet connection, the latest game updates, a valid EA Account, and a platform account on your chosen platform. Cross-play is enabled by default in Online Dynasties but can be turned off at any time by the Commissioner in League Settings.
A full deep dive into Dynasty will come soon, but EA did make note of other new features, including Formation Subs and Protected Opponents setting. Beyond that, many of the changes will aim to make Dynasty an even deeper game mode.
There's mention of a all-new Dynamic Dealbreakers "to avoid transfers and preserve team chemistry." In last year's game, some players would have Dealbreakers that if your team failed to meet, they would request to transfer. Speaking of transfers, EA teased an "expanded and more unpredictable transfer portal featuring thousands of players each year."
Dealbreakers would also impact recruiting. Not meeting the specific Dealbreaker requirement for a recruit meant you were locked out. On the subject of recruiting, new location-based visits are being introduced, giving your program a possible advantage if you visit recruits closer to your school.
Customizable playbooks and staff archetypes are also returning, hopefully with more depth as well.
In addition to these Dynasty-specific improvements, EA Sports College Football 26 will introduce more than 2,700 new players, and feature thousands of real college athletes as well as more than 300 real-world coaches and authentic coaching styles.
Other notable improvements include upgrades to the Physics Based Tackling system, new Custom Zones on defense, the ability to call different stunts and twists on the defensive line, improved blocking, and enhanced Stadium Pulse effects.
“The return of EA Sports College Football struck a chord with fans last year by capturing the heart of college football—its authenticity, passion, and unforgettable game day energy,” said Daryl Holt, SVP and Group GM, EA SPORTS. “With EA Sports College Football 26, we’ve deepened that experience, delivering more dynamic gameplay, vibrant stadium atmospheres, and modes that let players craft their own stories. From classic rivalries to the chase for championship glory, this game celebrates what fans love most about the sport and takes it to new heights.”
EA Sports College Football 26 launches on July 10, 2025 with a three-day early access period beginning July 7, 2025 for those who purchase the Deluxe Edition of the game. This year's game will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
